Val Gardena, called Gröden in German and Gherdëina in Ladin, is a Dolomite valley in South Tyrol where the three villages of Ortisei, Santa Cristina and Selva share a single lift network. Counted together with the adjoining Alpe di Siusi it runs to 181 km of pistes on 78 lifts, all covered by the Dolomiti Superski pass and sitting directly on the Sella Ronda circuit. The Saslong above Santa Cristina has hosted the men's World Cup downhill almost every year since 1969, and the valley remains one of the five where Ladin is an everyday language.
