Courmayeur sits at 1,224 m at the Italian foot of Mont Blanc, with its ski area on the opposite side of the valley. A cable car from the village and a gondola from Dolonne both reach Plan Checrouit at 1,704 m, where 41 km of piste split between the sunny Checrouit bowl and the shaded, tree-lined Val Veny flank. The small Cresta d'Arp cable car tops out at 2,755 m and serves off-piste itineraries rather than marked runs.
