The mountain
OpenSkiMap / OpenStreetMap, ODbLEuropean piste grades: blue easy · red intermediate · black advanced.
Breuil-Cervinia sits at 2,050 m on the Italian side of the Matterhorn, one of the highest resort bases in the Alps, with lifts climbing to Plateau Rosa at 3,480 m. That altitude, plus glacier terrain at the top, makes it one of the most snow-dependable ski areas in Italy and the largest summer ski area in Europe. The pistes link over the ridge into Zermatt in Switzerland, and the Ventina run drops 11 km from the glacier back to the village.
