Seefeld in Tirol sits on a sunny plateau at 1,180 m, just 18 km by road from Innsbruck Airport. Alpine skiing centres on the Rosshütte, where a funicular and two cable cars open up 19 km of mostly easy and intermediate pistes topping out at the Seefelder Joch, 2,064 m. The plateau's real fame is nordic: Seefeld staged the cross-country events of the 1964 and 1976 Winter Olympics and the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in 1933, 1985 and 2019, and it grooms 279 km of cross-country trails each winter.
