Mayrhofen is the liveliest resort in Austria's Zillertal valley, pairing a bustling village and famous apres-ski with a large, high-altitude ski area. Its terrain splits across two mountains: the sunny Ahorn plateau, a gentle beginner area, and the Penken, packed with intermediate and expert runs. The Penken is also home to the Harakiri, Austria's steepest groomed piste at a punishing 78 percent gradient.
