Flachau sits in Austria's Salzburger Land as one of the three villages of the Snow Space Salzburg ski area, part of the vast Ski amade network. Known as a family-friendly resort with gentle, wide slopes, it is the home village of ski legend Hermann Maier. Each January Flachau hosts the FIS Ski World Cup ladies' night slalom on the floodlit Hermann-Maier-Weltcupstrecke, drawing tens of thousands of spectators.
