Bormio lies in Alta Valtellina, at the head of the Valtellina valley in Lombardy, and is one of Italy's classic alpine ski towns. Its Stelvio piste is one of the most demanding downhill courses on the World Cup circuit, dropping steeply toward the historic town centre, and Bormio hosted the men's downhill and super-G at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.
